What do the funds from the entry fees go toward?
The cost of entry to the league covers umpire assignor fees, league insurance, website and league scheduling software, tournament scheduling software, and expenses related to the end of season tournament for league participants.
What is the end of season tournament?
The MADE Baseball League will work in connection with organizations responsible for maintaining baseball fields in our areas, for example parks and rec from various counties. At the conclusion of the spring baseball tournament, the MADE Baseball League will host a tournament for the teams participating in the league. Each teams league record will be used to determine seeding in the tournament. Day 1 of the tournament will consist of two games, and the matchups will be determined and scheduled based on the seeding. The results of Day 1 will be used to break each age group into different brackets (depending on the number of teams), for example Gold Bracket, Silver Bracket, Bronze Bracket. Day 2 of the tournament will use the seeding & brackets from Day 1 to give each team an opportunity to compete in a single elimination tournament. This provides each team with an opportunity to win a championship in their respective bracket. Umpire fees and game balls for this tournament will be provided by the MADE Baseball League.
Who pays the umpires for regular season games?
Each team will split the umpire fees at the field each game. The MADE Baseball League works in connection with local umpire organizations to schedule umpires for each game. Each umpire association sets their own fee amount depending on the age group. The fees association with scheduling the umpires (referred to as assignor fees) will be paid by the MADE Baseball League at the end of the season.
Where will we play?
The purpose of the MADE Baseball League is to focus on our collective communities in arranging and scheduling games. Teams are invited from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware. Typically, organizations have existing relationships with field owners / maintainers, such as parks and recs, which will allow them to host baseball games.
If we don’t have a field can we join?
Yes! There are teams that participate in the MADE Baseball League that can host games at their home fields.
Who sets our schedule?
Prior to the season, a questionnaire will be sent to each team’s coaching staff with a due date. Each teams coaching staff is responsible for completing the questionnaire and returning it to the designated scheduler for their age group within the MADE Baseball League. The scheduler will then build a schedule for the age group based on the questionnaire, which will include days of the week the team is available, number of games requested, ability to host single games, ability to host double headers, ability to host round robins, and other special considerations such as maximum driving distance or preferred times.
What do we need to qualify to play in the league?
The MADE Baseball League is open to organizations as well as independent teams. All teams will be required to have insurance (contact us if you need help). All teams will also be required to submit a roster with player names and numbers (no contact info is necessary).
